Assegid is a seasoned development practitioner and consultant, with valuable experience in sustainable rural development programs. His engagement in consultancy work includes – Inclusive market systems, climate resiliency, and business development. In addition, Assegid has extensive experience related to program management, youth employment and entrepreneurship, as well as value chain development. Since 2008 Assegid has conducted numerous studies, capacity building activities, and assumed leadership roles in the rural development sector in general. He served as country director for international organizations based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Assegid has also worked in Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, Burundi, Rwanda, Malawi, Zambia on several missions since 2009.

Assegid has an MA in rural development, a Bachelor’s degree in forestry, and attended MSc courses in Development Economics. Moreover, he participated in several international certification programs such as a Diploma in Market development and Business services (ITC-ILO, Turin), and CIPM (Certified Int. Project Management, USA).

Assegid lives and works between Addis Ababa and Nairobi, having the role of Country Director (Ethiopia) – Interim leave, and consultant in business development services.
